Holistic Learning: Heart, Mind, Soul, and More

love the Lord your God with all your heartA Preliminary Proposal

This is PRELIMINARY. I am "in process" of designing the best way to say it. I have nuanced and adjusted this several times. This is my latest version. Take it, use it, change it, make it better - but above all - figure out how to be about the journey of adult learning and transformation using its approach.

I provide the part of our human makeup, and then suggest a few words that describe the kind of activities that engages that aspect of our being.

In part, I use the theme of loving God with heart, mind, soul, strength - as the stepping stone to knowing God with all your heart, mind, soul, strength...

"Grow, Grow" Whispers the Angel

Every blade of grass has its angel that bends over it and whispers, "Grow, grow." The Talmud

You are meant to grow. To be alive is to grow. To grow is to flourish and thrive. It is God's will and His work for you to become all he has created you to become. You are a human becoming... a collection of possibilities, that this day, will advance toward fullness. There is More that God has for you...

May you know today that an angel is bending over you and whispering, "Grow, grow."

Live in joy, love, and vital optimism today, as you GROW.

Future-You and NOW-You

I came across the great idea in Gretchen Rubin's book - Better Than Before (highly recommended for anyone who wants to change habits).

Gretchen makes the point, we waste time thinking about our future self, when we only have our NOW-Self to work with. We can actually neglect to do NOW important things, because we think our FUTURE-Self will get around to doing them.

Future-Brian will be a writer, a good husband, a strategic leader, a creative communicator, etc., etc., etc.

Really! How is Future-Brian going to become that kind of person if NOW-Brian isn't working on those things. Good things do not appear from nowhere. They are the results of the choices we make to practice, learn, align, adjust, NOW.

The World Needs you to "Get On With It"

You owe it to all of us to get on with what you're good at. W.H. Auden

These words from W.H. Auden really, REALLY spoke to me. Concise, clear, compelling.

You are good at something. Maybe you are good at several things.

What you are good at, has been entrusted to you. You are a steward of what you are good at it.

It has been entrusted to you for a reason. You are to take what you are good at, and get about doing that very thing(s).
