Time Matters

... and it Matters a Lot!

I have been thinking a lot about time these days.

About how I am using my time (since it seems to be in precious short supply).
About how much time I have left (my 57th Birthday is fast approaching).
About what I want to do with my time (thinking about legacy issues).
About how fast time is flying (as I watch my son Matthew making his way through college).

I have often reflected on the verse from Psalm 90:12.

Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

I feel a great sense of urgency and importance to do this increasingly well.

This was ramped up when I attended an Orange Conference a few days ago. Time was THE METAPHOR / THEME they used to talk about ministry with children and teens. They use a great phrase: Over Time - as a tag line. Then they add ideas to it. So . . .

Love
Over Time
Is The One Thing That Matters Most

When Orange talks about Over Time, they are referring to process. They mean, go the distance. They encourage perseverance, repetition, multiple (many times over) connections. They are getting at the issue of sustainability.

Here is one of the best ideas I came away with about TIME OVER TIME.

Whatever is of value to you . . . it will be more valuable Over Time.
Whatever you have as priorities . . . they become greater priorities As Time Goes On.
Whatever your hand finds to do . . . you must do it even better Time After Time.

Time to get moving on What Matters Most. Make a list of what matters most. Figure out how much time you spent doing those things this past week. What are your plans for next week?
