Defining Leadership

Leadership is bringing out the best in people for the common good of the organization, and placing credit where it actually belongs - with the team. Steve Siebold

I am always on the lookout for those short, concise definitions of leadership. This one by Steve Siebold is a pretty good one.

If you are leading, this is what you must do today.

Bring Out the Best in Everyone You Lead. How you do that will vary from person to person... but that is what you MUST DO.

And you do it, not for your own sake, your own ego, your own agenda. You do it for the sake of the organization. This is being a SERVANT of others and of the organization.

The last thing you do, is give credit, recognition, and LOVE where it belongs - to the team of people who made it happen. This is what Max DuPree says is the final task of leadership - saying thank-you.

Maya Angelou says those people who do this are the heroes of life.
